Dr. G. R. Sam Seraphim is a Private Equity investor; he has served as CEO and CFO, and as a Financial Advisor.
He is Founder and Managing Partner of WoodLake Group, an international advisory firm focused on transactions between US and China. Woodlake Group provides capital to US and Chinese companies, and is engaged in Technology Transfer and Cross-Border M&A. It is also engaged in working with energy resource companies in North America and China.
Woodlake has worked extensively in energy projects, advanced automotive manufacturing, municipal solid waste treatment, emissions reduction, consumer goods and waste to energy projects. Its clients in China and the US include State Owned Enterprises, privately-held companies, public companies, engineering and manufacturing companies and investment firms.
Sam Seraphim was a featured speaker at the Jiangsu International Technology Transfer & Commercialization Conference. WoodLake has also worked closely with other municipal and provincial authorities on technology transfer, especially in clean tech and renewable energy.
Dr. Seraphim is also a Partner of Fieldston Investors SIGI, LLC, a private equity firm based in New York City that makes control investments in US manufacturing and distribution companies. Fieldston has been very successful in working closely with management to add value to ensure successful and profitable exits.
Previously, Dr. Seraphim was President and CEO of an engine, transmission and brake components manufacturer for GM, Ford, Chrysler, and Tier II customers.
He co-founded the Park Avenue Bank, NA and was its President and CEO during organization. He formed SIGI, an investment firm that invested in energy related ventures and real estate. He led a unit of Chase Manhattan Bank, NA that arranged and provided $1.7 billion in project finance for infrastructure and industrial projects. Prior to that, he was with McKinsey & Company in Toronto and New York consulting on operational improvements for ATT, GTE, and other corporations.
He has spoken at many public forums regarding Private Equity, Project Finance, Technology Transfer and International Partnerships. He has been a board member of a number of companies and organizations, such as The Park Avenue Bank, Norr Engineering Ltd., Bon Secours Hospital (Michigan), Hoffco, Inc., SPC TelEquip, Regal Kitchens, Inc., St. Catherine’s College (Oxford) Foundation, and Association for Corporate Growth, NY Chapter.
Dr. Seraphim has a PhD (Oxford University), an MS (London University) and a BS (Leeds University) in electrical engineering/telecom. He has published technical papers in Proc IEEE, Phys Rev, and Applied Phys Journal.
